The Luminoodle (white, 5ft) will run for 80 minutes per 1,000mAh of battery capacity. The Luminoodle XL (white, 10ft) will run for 40 minutes per 1,000 mAh. Below are equations for determining how long your power pack will power the Luminoodle and how much power you need to keep the Luminoodle on for your preferred period of time.
The Luminoodle Color has so different settings and combinations that there's no straightforward way to determine exactly how long it will last with your battery pack. Some things to help conserve power while using the Luminoodle Color:
Turn the brightness down
Set the color to red, green or blue. There are 3 LED color channels: red, green and blue. Combining multiple channels to get different colors like purple, yellow, etc. consumes more power. White consumes the most power, using all three channels.
- Unplug the battery between each use: the Luminoodle will draw 60mA of power when turned off so your battery pack knows a device is attached. This allows your Luminoodle to turn back on with the remote and in-line controls without needing to be unplugged then plugged in again. When you're trying to save power, you'll want to unplug the Luminoodle.
Run-time Equations (for white Luminoodle and Luminoodle XL only)
You can figure out how long your battery pack will power the Luminoodle (5ft) by using the following equation:
This will give you the run time in minutes, so to convert to hours simply divide by 60.

You can do the same thing to determine how long your power bank will power the Luminoodle XL (10ft) by plugging in 0.04 instead of 0.08 into the above equation.
You can figure out how much power you need to make sure your Luminoodle runs for your entire trip, you can use this equation:
For example, if you know you'll need to use the Luminoodle 3 hours every night for 3 nights (3 hours = 180 minutes * 3 nights = 540 minutes), you'll do the following:
If you want to use your Luminoodles for 3 hours each night for 3 nights, you'll need a total of 6,750 mAh.
